Sometimes {ok, fine, lots of times} I run errands while wearing a pair of Nike shorts and a t-shirt from some High School Softball Tournament that should have been thrown out years ago. Occasionally, though, something in my closet jumps out at me and asks to be worn. On Sunday afternoon, that exact scenario took place! Needing to make a few quick stops at Target, Party City, & Marshall's to pick up items for my sister Haley's Bachelorette Party--posts to come--this brightly colored shirt just begged to be put on. The simple fact that at 11:15am the Heat Index was already over 95* almost talked me out of wearing the top, but the loose-fit and airy material actually helped to keep me cool while shielding my arms from the intense direct sunlight.

The print of this skirt caught my eye immediately and the soft cotton feel of it sold me, plus I'm a sucker for anything easy & breezy! Its tribal pattern gives it a fun, playful vibe while the red color takes it up a notch. Despite the 'midi' trend being something I adopted a bit later than most, I'm doing my part to catch-up as I've added a handful of midi skirts to my closet. This mid-calf length can be daunting as it can easily make your legs appear shorter (and much more stocky, in my case!) but the material, and a pattern, can make all the difference. Adding height to your stature with heels is a definite must!
