My body wants it to be Summer all day, every day, but recently my heart has been longing for Fall. Something about being able to sleep with the windows open, Football season, and the changing colors make me feel a sense of calm. Plus, can we talk about some of this Fall's biggest fashion trends!?! From fringe details on everything to capes & ponchos galore to pieces in beautiful marsala hues--I am loving it all! Not wanting to wish away these precious last few weeks of gorgeous weather, though, I am keeping my boots packed away and my favorite cardigans in the closet for a little while longer. In the spirit of keeping my wardrobe fresh yet versatile, I scooped up this adorable short-sleeve number knowing it gave us the perfect 'fall-esque' vibe while still playing it cool. Rebecca Minkoff has some of my favorite apparel & handbags, not only for their quality and craftsmenship, but also for the unique and fun tone they have {I mean how cute is this top and this hobo?!}.

Eating healthy is incredibly important to me. I {try} to eat as natural and unprocessed as possible, but like every normal person I do slip up from time to time. One of my favorite things to do to get me reset after I feel like I've fallen off the wagon a little bit is juice. For my birthday, my mom bought me a great juicer that I use all the time. I love being able to throw whatever fresh produce I have in my refrigerator right into the juicer and bam--juice to take with me on the go! Often I crave a good green juice (my usual ingredients being kale, spinach, celery, a green apple, and 1/2 a lemon) but lately I've been craving a concoction of carrots, lemon, and ginger. SO GOOD! I always try to have some pre-made, bottled juices on hand for when I don't have time to make a Whole Foods run or have all of the proper ingredients at home. Suja has become my go-to juice brand. They have an amazing selection of cold-pressed juices and I've yet to find a flavor I wasn't a fan of.
Ahhh, black. The most figure-flattering and universally-loved color out there. I am a huge fan of black, regardless of the season, for its functionality as well as its ability to instantly add a touch of sophistication to any outfit. When I'm traveling by air, I like to wear dark colors in order to slim down my look and help hide any stains I may encounter. Comfort is key when hopping on an plane, but I always try to appear as put together as possible whether it is a 45 minute, or 4 hour, flight. Depending on where I'm headed upon arrival helps me dictate my overall travel attire. If I'm going to Dallas to see my family I'm more likely to be casual in these leggings and a lightweight sweater, but if I'm off to dinner with friends right away, you will find me in something like this particular black on black combination.
Clearly I am someone who loves being comfortable and practical while also being as fashion-forward as possible. I am also someone who is a {major} sucker for a good sale. Some people view a good sale as something that is 'cheap,' say under $20, while I gravitate towards a good sale in which there is an item I want that is heavily discounted. For certain designers or pieces, that 'heavy' discount may only be 20-25%, so when I saw this Ombre T-Shirt Dress that I'd been lusting over for the longest time go on sale for just over 30% off, I had to buy it. Call me crazy--Kyle does!--but with the sale price AND a few tricks up my sleeve, I was able to get this amazing dress UNDER $100. A splurge, absolutely, BUT I justify it by saying it's easily transitional from summer to winter & from brunch to work to swimsuit cover-up. The material is soft, flattering, and just the right length!
There will always be one or two fashion trends that you see on the runway, or even on the streets, that you totally fall in love with. There are also those trends that you admire from afar thinking 'they're great' but just won't work on you for one reason or another. The full-body jumpsuit was mine, but not any longer! After seeing the jumpsuit look on everyone from Kerry Washington to Taylor Swift to one of my favorite bloggers, Christine from Hello Fashion, I secretly obsessed over them while simultaneously convincing myself that with my height and build they were a total no go. The more I saw great jumpsuits, the more I wanted to get on board. As someone who {tends} to prefer doing my shopping online while in pj shorts, glasses, and with a wine glass in hand, I knew from the get-go that this particular piece who require LOTS of failures in a real dressing room. After about 15 different attempts I FINALLY found this French Connection hottie that fit!
