I love the Farmers Market. Something about local entrepreneurs coming together to sell everything from veggies to jewelry to clothing to jams & honey just makes me happy. I could roam the market aisles {in Omaha's case, 3 'wings'} for an entire morning just hearing the various vendors share their excitement for their products. Yesterday morning we headed to the Aksarben Farmers Market in search of some fresh produce, berries, and baked goods and ended up successfully finding everything I needed plus some delicious hot sauce, a bottle of wine, and specialty soap. I guess even in the case of a farmers market you end up leaving with more than planned. ;-)

As we hesitantly tip-toe our way into the fabulous Fall season my wardrobe becomes a bit less bold and color-filled. During the warmer months I love mixing florals with gingham (like this & this!) and unexpected textures in vibrant hues; however as the days shorten ever so slightly, the more daring side of my fashion personality goes into a hibernation of sorts. Hello looks consisting of black, black, grey, and probably some more black! In the spirit of stepping a bit out of my comfort zone--1 of my 2015 resolutions in both fashion & life--I decided that print mixing didn't have to end for me when the new school year began. Insert this contrasting look of plaid and stripes. I'm sure plenty of you see this as subtle, but for me it was an exercise in branching out.
My love for reading books is nothing new. This love started when I was young, before I can really remember actually. I use to watch my dad buy new books from Barnes & Noble and wait until he was finished to get my chance to read whatever he had picked out...this is probably where my preference for mystery, crime, and legal-suspense novels came from. Before an age at which I probably should have been reading the likes of Stephen King and John Grisham, I had re-read The Shining and The Pelican Brief. At the beginning of the Summer I made a short 'Bucket List' of sorts and on it was to read 10 books. As of this past Sunday afternoon, I was able to cross that off my list! Below are the 10 books I finished {you'll definitely notice a 'girly' trend in most of them, but I tend to reach for 'lighter' books while I'm laying out and/or traveling} and a quick clip on what I thought of a few of them!
Weekend wear for me often consists of white v-necks, denim, and a simple pair of flats. An outfit like that is so easy to amp up with a fringe sandal or a statement necklace and can go from mundane errands to drinks and beyond. High quality, well-priced white t-shirts {post to come on the best--and worst--I've found!} are hard enough to find as is, so finding an 'elevated' white t-shirt is even harder; and that is where Free People stepped in. Rarely have I found an item of theirs that wasn't spot-on and this 'Easy Tea' Short Sleeve Sweater did not disappoint. The viscose/cotton mix makes it super comfy and despite going with the smallest size they offer (XS), it still has the drapey fit I tend to favor.
Growing up as the oldest of 4 girls, I sometimes took for granted how great it was to have 3 built-in best friends. I went through a {short} stage of thinking I was a little too cool to hang with them but MY-OH-MY have times changed. Now, instead of sharing big news or the latest gossip/drama with my friends first, I pick up the phone and call one--or all--of them to spill the details. After moving to Omaha 4 years ago my 2nd sister, Haley, moved into our apartment with us; and despite her strong inability to keep her room clean, it was a lot of fun. Sure there were a few {ok, a fair amount} arguments, but overall those 18 months brought us so much closer together.
