Hopefully everyone who saw Monday's post was able to take a few minutes to check out Miss Gina's Chloe + Isabel site. If you have not yet had a chance, be sure to check it out here now! Today's featured C+I piece is this gorgeous Bora Bora cuff. How pretty are these colors!? And the geometric shaped stones are so unique! I'm not usually one to wear many bracelets as I rarely find any that fit my wrists well, but cuffs are great because I'm able to adjust them to fit just right. Plus, stacking a few of this exact cuff, or mixing & matching (maybe with this & this or these) leads to one adorable arm party. It's fun to keep things from being too matchy-matchy, so intermixing various stones or even metal tones really makes it interesting.

Please tell me I am not the only one whose face {ok, entire body} is NOT a fan of 90% humidity for days on end?!? I get it, it's the Midwest in the middle of Summer, but for the love! The heat is my favorite--give me 85* year-round and I'd be thrilled--however, the humidity is a total buzzkill. The damp, basically sauna-feeling air makes my face greasy, my hair go flat in seconds, and my mood unusually cranky. While I have not found a great solution in the hair department to keep my curls lasting all day, I have discovered some must-have makeup products to keep your look bright & fresh regardless of what the thermostat says!
Once of the quickest ways to build any kind of business/hobby, including a blog, is to collaborate with like-minded individuals. Being able to learn from and feed off of someone else's creativity is inspiring in itself, but being able to share similar aspirations is even more so. When I first started A Midwestern Mix, I wanted it to be MY creative outlet; now having one of my first opportunities to partner with someone--the fabulous Gina Melvin, an independent Chloe + Isabel Merchandiser--I'm able to share another lovely lady's creative passion! {For those of you who are unfamiliar with C+I, you can check out their story here} I'm always hesitant when it comes to direct marketing companies but Chloe + Isabel is not like so many other, similar companies. One of my favorite things about them {besides the adorable jewelry & their empowerment of being your boss & that each piece is hand-designed in their New York City studio & that all their pieces are hypoallergenic} is that Social Responsibility is a top priority.
I know not everyone is a follower of mine on Instagram {but if you want to, I can be found at @amidwesternmix} but I thought I would do a short post that would roundup some of my recent outfits and outings. Oooh, and you might notice that I may or may not have a slight obsession with stripes. Enjoy! :) Omaha Fashion Week hosted their Red Carpet Ready Event at Borsheim's last Thursday and I thought this Rebecca Minkoff shirt dress was conservative but fashion-forward. The black & white version is sold-out, but this color combo is equally adorable. This casual black maxi went from church to brunch a few Sundays back. I found it last summer at TJMaxx but found a few similar options (here & here) a these sandals have been on constant repeat so far this summer. This particular afternoon we were out house hunting and I wanted something casual. It really doesn't get any more summer than white cut-offs, chambray tops, slides, and a neutral tote. I absolutely love this look and have worn variations of it nearly every day. When you sleep past your alarm and know it's going to be hot & humid in the office, you wear the easiest thing in your closet...for me, it's this striped cotton t-shirt dress. Throw on some cute flats, a long necklace, and I deemed it 'work appropriate.'I picked out this sunny dress for Kyle's cousin Parker's wedding in early July. I found out the wedding colors (purple & yellow) AFTER I had purchased the dress, but I ended up matching Kyle in his groomsmen tux pretty well :) I added two of my favorite pieces of jewelry; this necklace and this cuff for some interest. This is one of my favorite looks of the summer...there's a good chance I've worn this tank at least 10x since it arrived on my doorstep {#notsorry} and these boyfriend shorts are really figure-flattering! I threw this on for a 90* Saturday morning filled with the BEST latte ever and antique shopping in small town Iowa.Ever since forever, Lilly Pulitzer has been the go-to for the vivid, bright, fun prints. It's nearly impossible to have a blah day while wearing something Lilly because the bold patterns are an instant spirit-lifter. These 4" Adie Shorts are no different. While this 'Resort White Chasing Tail' print is on the more mellow side for the brand, these are one of my favorite pairs of shorts to throw on for any occasion. Printed shorts are a great switch-up from the usual white or denim pair in your closet and can easily be worn with wedges for church or slides for a hot summer night.
