After seeing off-the-shoulder tops and dresses just about everywhere this season, I knew that it was only a matter of time before one of them ended up in my closest. I'm NOT into spending a lot of money on trendy pieces so it was a little bit of a struggle finding a dress (and a top) that was high quality but at a low price-point. Que Nordstrom for the win, as usual. This dress caught my eye because of the bright color, fun tassle detailing, and the fact that it had a slip liner underneath; plus at under $45 it fit my budget too!

With 4th of July weekend just around the corner, I thought I would round up some of my favorite items. I love any excuse to dress festive, so getting to break out some fun red, white, & blue items gets me excited! Our tradition for the past few years includes going back to Kyle’s small hometown for their big celebration. It’s always so much fun to hang out with family and get to see some of our best friends from college. Every year the town hosts a variety of activities like the Freedom 5k I’ll be doing, a carnival, street dance, etc., plus my in-laws make a FABULOUS Lemon Drop drink on the 4th that will sneak up on you if you aren’t careful! :) Pairing those events with the usual fun of yard games, bonfires, and lots of music and we have ourselves a pretty great time. I ordered this t-shirt to wear during the day and this dress for the street dance!
About 2 weeks ago I posted my first review on Blue Apron's Meal Delivery Service, so I thought it was time to recap the second meal from our delivery. Up on the menu was Arepas de Carne Molida and I was definitely excited about this one! Anything remotely Spanish/South American and I'm in. I've never met a bowl of chips & guac that I didn't like and I've been wanting to try Arepas after PALEOMG raved about them out. After pulling out all of the ingredients and studying the recipe, I knew mine would not turn out as pretty as the ones in the picture, but nonetheless I was looking forward to the final product.
One of my top priorities when getting dressed in the morning is being comfortable. There is no point in constantly picking at, pulling up, or tucking in whatever it is you have one. The ability to be practical and transitional is key for me and when I saw this t-shirt dress I knew it hit both criteria. I've been loving nearly every t-shirt dress I've seen lately but the material of this particular dress is in a league of its own! I chose it in the grey because there is nothing similar in my closet currently, however it also comes in black, white, and this amazing sky blue color that is 50% off {and in my shopping cart!}. One thing to pay attention to is the sheerness of the dress...in certain lighting, I have noticed the bottom to be fairly see-thru.
Ever since Target began doing designer collaborations, I've been on-board {until Lilly Pulitzer but that is a whole separate topic}! So when they announced their collab with Peter Pilotto I was thrilled. Having the ability to actually afford some of his amazing pattern-work, intricate design, and over-the-top color combinations made me super excited! I hit up the nearest Target the day of the release and picked up a few necessities, this adorable fold-over skirt being my favorite. I love how the simplicity of black and white is used to create such a vibrant look, plus Alexa Chung was spotted wearing this and if she was a fan, so would I be too!
