When making a decision on new clothes, shoes, or an accessory I always try and put together three ways I will wear or utilize the piece in my head before I pull the trigger. Of course there are some times when I end up coming home with one-time-only items but I try to keep that to a minimum. It's my goal to make sure the purchase is somewhat necessary and that I truly will be getting good wear or use out of it. Last month when looking online at Sweetest Stitch, I immediately took notice of this oversized, poncho-ish sweater. In my mind I checked off my 'three' outfit boxes thinking I could style it with white skinnys & tan wedged booties, with slim destructed denim & heels, and with leggings and boots. Check, check, and check, so into my online cart it went but once it was delivered I instead went wayyy outside of my usual combinations and decided to have a bit more fun with what is otherwise a fairly basic sweater.

As you are easily able to see week after week, post after post, grey is my jam. I seriously have not come across a pair of grey denim or seen a grey sweater that I didn't think needed to be added to my closet. It's kind of ironic that I gravitate to this color so often because my disposition is usually quite the opposite. If my personality was assigned a color it would likely be a yellow or even a hot pink, yet when it comes time for me to get dressed it is those colors within the grey family that speak to my heart. So when a rep from Bailey Blue reached out and asked if I would be interested in a piece from their online boutique, I unsurprisingly picked out this cute little grey dress. Started by 3 sisters (LOVE the girl power!) in Los Angeles, Bailey Blue's pieces are girly, chic, and super affordable. I love the carefree styles they create and currently have this high-low option, this basic tank dress, and this breezy slip dress in my cart.
First of all I want to thank everyone for all of the love on Wednesday's post! Not sure if it was because of the more personal feel, or maybe the cute $28 sweaters, or {likely} Cassidy as my guest model, but the response was beyond amazing so THANK YOU! I'm definitely going to work on similar posts with Haley, Janae, & my sister-in-law Lindsey and I think I may have talked Kyle into doing a guy's look in the very near future. YAY! Many of you have seen my Snapchats {follow me: kristinkruse} about the Artic blasts we've been having on a basically a daily basis but those don't even do this weather justice. The background for these photos is absolutely gorgeous; I mean how pretty is the frozen lake surrounded by all of the snow? On the other hand, it's seriously a pain-staking process to get yourself out of bed and dressed for the day when you know you have to add layer upon layer upon yet another layer. NOT FUN. I do however enjoy being able to wear sweaters on the regular.
Most of you know this, but for those who don’t, I grew up in a house full of girls. I am the oldest of 4 so my dad was vastly outnumbered; but don’t bother feeling sorry for him, he loved it. We were/are all athletic, prefer to watch a game over The Real Housewives, and our Prom dress weren’t that expensive. ;-) Actually if you want to send your sympathies, address them to my mom. She stayed a home with us and experienced all that estrogen 24/7. She’s basically a real-life saint. One of the most common scenes in our house {besides empty toilet paper rolls} was one of us girls in another’s clothes. Sometimes we asked to borrow things, most of the time we just took them. Now that each of us lives in a different state—NE, IA, SD, & TX—it makes sharing/stealing clothes more difficult, but we take full advantage of a new wardrobe when we get together. Despite our heights differing up to 4”, we wear almost the exact same sizes {Mom included!} which pretty much means our closets are 4x larger than the average girl. It’s the best! So when the 3rd Breon girl, Cassidy, came to Omaha this weekend she brought essentials and scoured my drawer for everything else. I thought it would be fun to see how we styled the exact same sweater (in different colors) in two blog posts since we have very similar, yet unique, taste. Plus I think it’s fun to have one of my sisters see what it feels like to be a blogger for a day! Oh yeah, Cassidy has NEVER colored or done anything other than trim her hair. She sucks.
This weekend the high temperatures in Omaha barely broke 0* and the wind chills at night hovered right around a balmy -25*. Welcome to the Midwest! As you can probably imagine we did NOT spend much time outdoors for obvious reasons, but when the sun decided to pop out yesterday afternoon I started craving some fresh, and very crisp, air. Luckily Kyle was a good sport and went along with a quick photo session in the frozen tundra of Nebraska. Now I will be the first to admit that when it's so freaking cold outside the last thing I want to do is get dressed up all cute. Instead you will usually find me in some a combination of leggings, hoodies, warm socks, and my glasses. Not sorry about that either because being warm, comfy, and cozy is usually priority #1 in my book!
